Here is the kit part on the left and the modified part on the right. have painted the part with Mr Surfacer 500 to allow me to easily show where the errors are and to photograph it easier.

This is the sidepod After painting. I
had to scrape the paint from the mating
parts to get them to fit very tight fitting parts

Here is a close-up of the right side of the engine block. I have added some minor wiring using several reference sources. Most sources I used were for the 1999 and 2000 car. The best sources I have found so far is the Japanese Magazine F1 Modelling and Piolis detail books. Here is one area that I think Tamiya improved over the 2000 kit. The red engine detail is a separate piece which
can be painted separately and then installed.
Engine covers were painted with Testors Metalizer Aluminum. The radiators were also painted with aluminum Metalizer and then given a wash to bring out the grill detail.

Close-up of the transmission showing the carbon fiber decaling. I used a Modellers brand that is very noticeable. Here you can also see the foil added to the suspension pieces. As an added little touch
I have shaved off the bolts from suspension connection parts and replaced them with PE parts. It is barely noticeable but I believe it is these little things that make the model more realistic.

This is one of the side pods with a little wiring.
References helped a bit here but also showed that there were several different configurations used throughout the year. A little wiring and again the model looks better. As with the engine block above I am not sure where the hoses and wires go so I hide them where they can not be seen.

Here is the top side of the sidepod. The wire that runs on top is held down with a
wire that has been threaded through a hole drilled through the top of the sidepod.
I pull the wire tight and add a drop of glue
underneath to hold it in place. Very neat looking and no glue marks. I have not detailed the radiator hoses yet.

This the airbox that I used Scale MotorSport decals on. this is actually the first time I have used their prduct. I have used Modellers, F1 Specialties and Slixx. It may have been this type of decal sheet in particular but I found it brittle.
