Scratch Built 1:12 Ferrari 156 Sharknose 1961

Here is the start of the instrument panel. It is made from aluminum sheet. From what references I have this instrument panel shape is not common for the shark-nose. It was used when the cars were introduced to the press. Most race photos showed the instrument panel to have a bump in the middle. I decided to be different and stick with this instrument panel.

Here are a bunch of turned instruments that are going to be installed in my instrument panel. There is no instrument for the large one as this is where the steering wheel shaft went. Sometimes I get so absorbed in my project that I accidentally made an instrument for this hole.

What a hunk of junk. This is my attempt at pounding brass to try and make a brass body. Not as easy as it looks. I don't have enough skill in this area to do a goo job. My inexperience is obvious here. Pounding the brass put all these little dings and dents all over the place. I wonder how the experts get these out. Do they putty or is there some other skill I don't know about. I sure don't like the idea of putty. Sanding it smooth? Is there enough material for this.

Part of the process is joining the brass by soldering. Again I have no idea what I am doing and it turns out to be a mess. That is one gob of solder from my attempt. Above it is the seam I was trying to fill. Soldering was never my best talent.
