So this is how I painted my first model. Plasticote Sandable grey primer. No problems here. Alclad II gloss black. I had trouble getting a nice finish without orange peel. I they airbrushed Alclad White Aluminum. The finish was OK but I wanted better |
I then used These Tamiya weathering sets to weather this model |
The results. Photos taken without flash so that is what they actually look likr |
The weathering is not too bad but I am just not happy with it |
In the rush to get it done the Alclad gloss black didi nt fully dry even thought I hit it with the heat gun. Too much rough handling and the finish gets damaged |
And here but this will be covered with a shuttle |
So I finally strip the paint from sample No 1 |
Since eventually i hope to put lights in this unit the rear bee hive has to come off. Here is disassemble a electric toothbrush tip for the magnets |
I grind out recessed areas and glue in the magnets |
I also glue in a couple of pins to help with alignment |
All done and it looks good. |
