So this is how I painted my first model. Plasticote Sandable grey primer. No problems here. Alclad II gloss black. I had trouble getting a nice finish without orange peel. I they airbrushed Alclad White Aluminum. The finish was OK but I wanted better

I then used These Tamiya weathering sets to weather this model

The results. Photos taken without flash so that is what they actually look likr

The weathering is not too bad but I am just not happy with it

In the rush to get it done the Alclad gloss black didi nt fully dry even thought I hit it with the heat gun. Too much rough handling and the finish gets damaged

So I finally strip the paint from sample No 1

Since eventually i hope to put lights in this unit the rear bee hive has to come off. Here is disassemble a electric toothbrush tip for the magnets

I grind out recessed areas and glue in the magnets

I also glue in a couple of pins to help with alignment

All done and it looks good.
