What the? Something new? Well yes it is. I am now adding the antenna to the arrays. This is a first attempt at bending brass. Unfortunately the type I have does not like being bent to many times and they break. Next time I will have to heat it up to soften the brass so it is not as brittle |
After several attempts at soldering little parts together I manage to get the 2 little pieces soldered together. This involved putting some solder on each part. Flux and then holding the parts down with weights while I try and apply heat to melt the solder already on the parts so they solder together. That's all. That wood piece the brass is resting on is a Popsicle stick. |
Now for the second antenna which was slightly harder since it had 3 parts. I was going to make it out of 2 parts but then again I knew I would not be satisfied. |
Cut to size |
Here are the pieces glued to one of the arrays |
Fragile looking thing |
I am so happy with how it looks that I took several photos |
Looking at the size of the things I have no idea how I can make multiple copies of them quickly. Casting them will produce fragile parts that will be useless as will photo etching. I mention that photo etching will not produce decent results because my attempts worked on thinner material. Even if I can do teh photo etching I do not think they would be any better then resin ones due to the small size. Any ideas? |
