A lot of filing is done. Stuff all over the place |
Cleaned up |
But now hobby putty added |
And so on |
Marking off the part with a marker to check to make sure it looks good before making the parts |
Other side |
Using pop can aluminum I start making the part |
One strip almost made. Now it was a mistake to make the outside curve first as it took quite a bit of time to match up the curve on the inside with files and such |
Done after some careful filing to make sure I did not ruin the part |
The second strip is made. The first part was used as a template to mark of the aluminum to make the cutting easier. This time I cut the inner curve first and then cut out the outer curve. This way I had more material to hold onto while carving the inner curve |

Glued in |
Thin styrene strips added to add more detail |
Trimmed and thin strips cut to complete the detail |
