Well each piece was bad so I went with the best of the lot.

Started removing the exess

Trimmed to size (or so I thought)

Now to remove the section from teh body first with a dremel tool

Then go in with exacto knives and files. Not a fun task.

Test fit the new part

and find that for some reason it is smaller then the area I carved out. I have no idea why the casting is smaller.

Well I move forward by adding styrene strips to build it up to the desired shape

Yes this is a lot of work but I have never been satisfied with the detail of the area. Too rough. I thought I would be able to clean up the area later but then I realized it would be easier if the part was separate from the rest of the body.
