So clean up starts on the recessed area
The outside lip is easy to get to
The inner portion is a bit trickier and after that is cleaned up a second layer of putty is needed
Now the other side needs the gaps filled
A small piece of styrene is cut to shape and glued in. Once the glue is dry it will need puttying
