Now to start the outer section. I make a template of the shape I need
I cut out a sample template (lower right) but the material is too thin so I start making another one using thicker material
Errors happen and the lower 2 ones are mistakes before I get 2 right
Then after I finally get one right I find out the thing does not fit. I forgot to take into account the material thickness. Hindsight is 20-20 and I should have used the above part to mark out the cut out
Material is trimmed from the insert to prepare to use it as a cutting template
Same with the other side
It has been fairly frustrating that I spent all that time on the templates and then making the cutout and then finding they do not fit. So I have to start again.
Scratch building can be annoying at times.
