More filing and sanding

Now I have decided that I can not make the engine intake pretty as I do not have the tools and the time so I decide to make it out of styrene like the windshield and skylight. So I set up my chopper to try and cut up 16 equal parts.

One part. This was made after several attempts at setting up the jig and taking measurements of the engine intake to find the right size

Several cut later

I then taped the parts together into halves. Hopefully I will help to hold the parts together as I try and glue it together

A few parts glued together and placed in the model part

Um it doesn't look right. Crap

Hmm there was initially quit a few responses to the Thomas model serenity thread but it has died quickly.

It makes me doubt how popular a subject it would be if I did produce a kit.

I have also seen that the DVD sales on Amazon has put it to Number 1. It makes me wonder about these things. Does number 1 make others buy it? Everyone I know who has seen the movie has loved it be they fans or not. Yes the movie did not do well at the box office. We all promoted the movie as best as we could yet this was no-where near enough to get people in the seats.

Fans attend conventions in droves yet this was not enough to significantly alter the box office numbers. Was our efforts that meaningless?

How would the movie have done if we all did not go and see it multiple times?

Grrrrr I have to blame someone and since it is my site I can rant as much as I want.

I blame the Universal Marketing department. Now we Browncoats loved the prescrenings and we loved that Sean chose to come here for a pre-screening. But the ad and commercial champaign? You did not have to cater to the fans since we were going to see it anyway. Some people liked the commercials and that is what brought them into the verse but overall I think a lot of people were confused by it.

Initial commercials made it like it was a Sci-Fi comedy which turned some off. Later ones sent a muddled message. So much that my friend and his son who are BIG sci-fi fans and practically go see every movie that comes out did not intend to see Serenity.

I belong to several modeling boards and when we talk about the ship every so often a modeller is intrigued by how passionate we are about the show. Some are so interested that they rent the series and come back very impressed. So word is spreading but not fast enough.

Of course one of their first posts after seeing the series is "Why was it cancelled?"

I was at a local electronics store to get some electrical plugs for R2 when I spotted a PIC programming board kit. It turns out this is the board I need to reprogram the first light kit I got that had the random pattern.

I bought it. Not sure why but now I have to assemble it. Then I have to learn to program the PIC for the circuit board I already have. This after a did a bit of research on programming the PICAXE board I got earlier.
