Final blocking off of area |

The other side |
It takes a bit of time making sure both sides are even |
OK I finally have to admit to myself that the rear section curves down too much. This affects the shape of the skylight and rear window. Here I have scored the rear section so that new putty I add wil stick better |
Higher up view |
Puttying added to the sections I blocked off earlier |
Other side |
I have removed the rear raised styrene details and they are under the green masking tape at the top to keep it in a safe place |
Putty added. Looks like pudding |

Another thing I finally have to admit is that the underside of the nose section is convex instead of concave. The movie tipped me off of this initially. The TV series has next to no images of this area. The thing is I liked the way it looked on the right side of the photo but I need to be accuarate so more puttying is needed. There are 3 images that I go off of. In teh TV series show Serenity when Book looks up at the ship there is one uimage of the nose. Now this is an early ship image but all other brief images seem to support the shape. In the beginning of the movie when it starts with the logo and pulls back yo ucan again see the shape. Lastly at the end of the movie when it is raining and they show you the side of the ship this image is available online and obviously shows the shape. Although the movie ship has slight modifications it is understood that they started with the TV version and added to is so the shape is reelatively correct. |
Which will be a pain in the butt again to match the left and right sides of the ship |
After a few minutes teh putty starts to cure and I can quickly carve away excess putty relatively easily. |
This will save loads of time later when the putty is rock hard |
This is one of those moments when I am cursing. Nothing seems to be simple in life and it seems to love knocking you down. At this point I have gone back on my mostly finished body to do modifications after checking my references all over again. I got one set of DVDs back from one friend and started going through it watching the shows looking for nose shots of Serenity I needed for my model. Yeah the nose section is wrong. I have denied it for long enough but now I have to fix it. Also the rear section has been bugging me since I drew in the skylight and it didn’t look right. Stupid perfectionist attitude gnawing at my brain. I got so used to the way it looked and I liked it. Now to me it looks fat, I am sure I will get over it. |
