Sometimes the eye fools you and you only notice it when you try and match the part to the model. In this case the face the vent thingy is supposed to mount to is slightly slanted and not perpendicular to the front. So I had to file and test fit and so on until it looked good. Here I am close

Looks like a simple piece but trust me it isn't

Test mounted to the swirly thing along with another layer of 0.010 in styrene on top

Both at the stage where they are ready to be refined

The glue I use softens the styrene quite a bit since it is so thin. This means I have to make sure it is completely dry until I can work it as it can shift like putty if forced

Traffic terrible today. Got home and didn't want to do anything. Watched Survivor and the Apprentice. The task today was to build a parade float. What they did in the amount of time was amazing. I wonder if they could make a Serenity model in 24 hours? A lot of filing today for the detail piece. After all the filing when I put the part onto the swirly thing there was an obvious problem. Due to the face not being perpendicular to the front the part I made was not shaped right. Back to the sanding to try and fix it.
