Ok after looking at my template something seemed wrong and after double checking I noticed that the shape was wrong. The top one is the old one while the bottom one is the new one

Lots of carving and test fitting with the model shuttle to make sure things fit
Now to the other side and more grinding
Now to start boxing in the area
A piece of sheet styrene added to start off with. I had to match the piece to the inside profile so there was a lot of test fitting and little modifications before I got a good fit.
