Progress seems to be going slow with all teh sanding and puttying so I decided to start the engine section. It took me a bit to figure out what material to use. A trip to the local plastics place found various types of material that can be used. This is solid PVC and is relatively cheap compared to other choices.

I started off turning as much of it as I could at work. This would make it hopefully easier for me at home. I decided to make it in 3 section to make it easier for my small lathe at home. It turned out to be almost too big for my hobby lathe.

It took a few hours but I did 2 of the 3 sections.

I had a little accident as the bit got jammed and the part got slightly damaged in a couple of spots. Here is one ding. It does not look too bad

This one is more of a gouge. Hopefully fixing it will not be too hard

The second piece turned out OK

It took some playing with my hobby lathe to get it to turn these parts but in the end I think they turned out great
