The chrome plated parts in the is kit are brittle and have already broken in several places already

The fir of the suspension parts take time and need some fiddling around but again the brittle nature of the parts do not help much. The shocks look terrible so I replace them with some simple wire wrapped items

Here is the body after some cleanup. The side pods have been glued on

The front fenders come in white metal and later I found them on the PE sheet. However I think the white metal ones were easier to put on

#ear 3/4 view showing. Several mounting holes for vents and side wings have been filled in as I will be modifying those items and do not need the mounting holes

The engine insert which required little cleanup

The large wing behind the driver's head was a nice white metal item. It looks like later on they included a PE sheet with the wing end plates so I replaced them

Now this is one of the side winglets in white metal. Not bad looking except for the large mounting rob below

hawk15.jpg
hawk15.jpg

The kit came with PE endplates so I scratchbuilt new wings and left the white metal parts in case the new winglets did not work

Both winglets and a piece of the coke can I used to make teh main body of the winglet

Yay all done and it looks fairly good. The decal went on very well. I drilled through the body for the mirrors and replaced the kit parts with brass rod for strength. I then punched some round discs from aluminum sheet for the mirror faces

hawk19.jpg

The new winglets look better. The 2 scoops on the sides of the body had the leading edge thinned for a more scale appearance.

A nice build

This was build for a friend and they are always supposed to be out of the box but for some reason I can not do that. Small modifications add quite a bit to the finished model.
