REVELL AG 1:24 WILLIAMS FW19

Background

This is the 1997 Williams F1 car that Jacques Villeneuve drive to the drivers championship. His teammate was Heinz Harald Frentzen.

The Model

Built straight from the box.
Kit includes engine and I guess you can call it that. Unless you want to do some major detailing I suggest you make the model a curbside. Body is a one piece item so if you want to show the engine you will have to do some cutting.

Instead of assembling the front suspension as per the instructions, I built up some small structure inside the front of the car. This would allow me to cut the suspension parts so that I could install them after the body had been assembled. Without the suspension in the way I can putty and sand the body until the seam line wasn't there. This took quite a bit of time to get a nice finish.

Bad Points
Tires and wheels do not fit properly.
Yellow strip for rear wheel in my kit is straight. Should be curved like the one for the front wheel. Later kits has this corrected.
Front suspension is assembled in a clam type assembly. This leaves a very nasty seam line down the sides of the car. It is slightly hidden by the turning vanes but the front part won't look too good.

Good Points
One of the best decal sheets I have seen. 99% of decals went on with no problem. Used a little Micro Sol. Only problem is the large decal that goes over the three bumps on top front of the car. A lot of patience is needed here.

Notes:
Seatbelts are molded into seat.
No Rothmans decals included. (?) symbol is included for side pods.
Maybe because I cut the suspension apart but the four wheels do not touch the ground
