I got these8-32 bolts about 2 inches long for mounting the dome. A bolt on one side to hold the bolt on the bearing and the holes on the dome opened up and here we go.
Doh. Misaligned dome and body because both are not perfectly round
I hindsight I should have taken more time to make sure they were round
Bearing with bolts in them and screwed to the body with wood screws
The holes in the dome were deepened to take the new longer screws
