The 501st suiting up |
Down the road where the rest of the floats are |
Still some time to go before our float (Section 50) is ready to go |
R5 rests up for the parade |
R5 poses with some of the costumed animals and their handlers |
The Emperor has corrupted the costumed animals |
Buckets on which means it is almost time to go |
Starting to form up |
Vader (Roy) starts to plan the layout of the characters |
Waiting |
And we are starting to walk. Of course we are not even at the start of the parade route yet. The float to the left was playing Star Wars music and had the Emperor sitting on the back giving out Christmas greetings as only the Emperor can |
These are the helpers that were handing out loads of candy canes |
And the 501st |
We had a nice turnout for this event |
One of the few photos during the event as I was busy controlling R5 |
The end Whew!. R5 lasted the parade (Stared getting ready at 8am and ended around 11am) but it felt like the batteries were getting weaker at the end. Most of the roads were OK but crosswalks were these brick things which had a lot of little potholes. The skirts on the foot shells took a beating and will have to be fixed. Sounds and dome lights were not working as I never had a chance to fix them after C5 when I fried the sound system. The parade was a blast and lots of kids loved R5. Quite a few kids wanted to touch R5 and I had no problem with that but it made me lag behind the rest of the group which meant I had to play catch up quite a few times. |
