This is the prototype of the A&A Periscope lifter. This is where all the bugs are worked out of the system and tested by myself and Andy before we consider offering it to other builders. This can be a lengthy process as we want to make sure what we supply is the best that we can supply. Normally we do not show this process as this whole design can be a compete disaster and we might have to go back to square one.

The design has already gone through many revisions on the drawing board before we commit to getting a sample produced for assembly

Obviously the incorrect screws were used here but this is a rough assembly of the lifter minus the ring. Finally putting everything together you can see obvious problems and solutions that can not be noticed on the drawing board.

This is one of the gears. The aluminum hub is what was purchased along with the motor. The hub didn't come with the screws to mount the gear to the hub so I had to go into my spare parts box

One ned of the hub has a thread in it so I had to drill it out for the motor shaft

Mounted the screws. The screws I used were actually slightly smaller then the holes in the hub so I was able to use the screw to make a thread. So actually the nuts are not needed but I included them anyways

the flip side with the hex heads. You can also see the set screw for the motor shaft

Here is where I noticed a problem with the design. The are for the hub was designed right but the hex heads were not taken into account.

So I used the first piece to scribe a line to modify the seconds piece to let the hex heads to clear.

I found a second problem. The motor I purchased does not come with mounting screws. None of my spare parts fit so i will have to find out what the specs for the screws are and order some.
