R7 Skin Extras - Power Coupling
This piece is for those who do not have a resin surround and want to build their own housing.  If you find the right can that can be adapted for a housing also and may be sturdier.
The housing is also designed to fit onto a curved skin with a dual layer thickness of 0.040"  The power coupling face has been both flat and curved.  We have included a curved housing to that when it is placed on the inside of the skin it will be flush instead of having gaps.  If a flat face is being used the part can be filed flat.
If you take your time this process can produce excellent results but some fiddling maybe needed

It would help a lot of hte sides of the housing was pre-bent  You should thoroughly test fit the side piece to the back piece.  There is a tendancy of small gaps forming at the tab holes.  If this is ht ecase you may need to file the ends of the curved piece to make the fit better.  This may not be easy as a bit of force will be needed to get the side piece flush with the back piece.  Start with the tab furthest away from the final connetion point.  Glue that part and wait for it to dry before moving on.  I know the tendancy is to try and do it in one shot but this can produce unsatisfactory results

Here is the  inner pieces (black) installed in a resin sample.
The inside piece was not included in the extras since ithe surface is a double curve which is not easy to make from a flat surface.

These outer pieces go on the face of the power coupling. The skins include the motivator vent if the builder decides to leave that in.
The power coupling is not an item that is on the R7 Skin blueprints.  However this item was given to the builder as an option for R7 but can be used on other droids
